The South African RnB and Alternative scene has vastly grown in over the years especially with the evolution of the evergreen sound. Through this evolution, we have witnessed a rise in new acts and a play of new sounds highlighting the roots of African love and art. Acts that have contributed towards this movement in over the years have since seen a reap in rewards as the community continuously flourishes in the hands of the new generation referencing their craft and impact such as ‘Amarafleur‘, ‘Elaine‘, ‘Filah Lah Lah‘, ‘lordkez‘, ‘Thandonje‘, ‘Ipeleng‘, ‘KLY‘, ‘Bongeziwe Mabandla‘, ‘Zoë Modiga‘, ‘Darkie Fiction‘ and many more. Some of the mentioned acts have since eloped over into spectacular spaces that have allowed them to create a unique sound that’s yet modern and yet classical whilst expressing their inner-thoughts in style as they navigate in a forever growing community.

Just as we thought that we would not hear any new material from ‘Amarafleur’ anytime soon, multitalented vocalist and songwriter, Mx Blouse brought her out to create a singular masterpiece leading to his sophomore EP since his 2019 debut EP “Re: MX” which showcased his love for the Kwaito sound and Electronic sound as he infused two cultures into one self-defining body of work. In his latest single “Learn To Love You” featuring the iconic and talented singer-songwriter Amarafleur, they explore copious feelings for their fellow potential lovers through an emotive and yet compelling story, production and visuals. The song expresses the need to take risks in life especially with love as at times such can be blinding when it comes to what the heart really wants. And truly following that with the ability to compromise you shall find inner-happiness within the relationship as you learn to love each other.

The single infuses a variety of elements to create a moving message leaving a mark to the heart and a rememberable tune to the mind. Those elements are a blend of Jazz instruments from the easy listen drums to the keys and well guided vocals from Amarafleur which were complimented by Mx Blouse’s verse of vulnerability. The visuals are quite a great extension to the eye as they set a tone of relaxation and calmness through the greenery and warm setting within the house. “Learn To Love You” is truly a core representation to the growth of RnB and Alternative music in South Africa as Amarafleur makes her return in quite a well curated single and we owe it to Mx Blouse, as he ignites his journey to his sophomore EP set to drop later this year in quite a soothing and moving start.

If you haven’t yet added it to your library then best believe you are missing out on quality music but we got you as you can indulge in this amazing body of art below alongside the stunning visuals. I cannot wait to hear more music from both artists as they have won my ears over with this masterpiece.

I love what I do on a daily basis as I get to help out fellow African creatives spread out their work to the world. I am a diverse individual as I do not limit myself to one group or type of content. I am always open to receiving new work from other individuals as that is my way of maintaining the culture in quality form.
