Visuals are the best way to explain a storyline to an artistic piece mainly a project and KLY understood the assignment as he gradually complimented his 2023 single “Money Chop” with visuals. The single stems from his 12 track album “THREEE“. The music video for “Money Chop” explores a journey of hope, dreams, passion and possibilities. KLY acts out his character in a supermarket store where he works behind the till and on the floors with stock as his boss steadily reprimands him for his comfort. The hardworking gentleman is trying to break out of the daily working routine as he chases after his aspirations to become financially free and live life happily without the stress of working for someone or under someone’s demands.
The team understood the flow and were able to give the song a bit of context and depth, I though felt that they could have done more as the song does depict more through notable lines within the lyrics. “Money Chop” is quite catchy and easy to listen which makes the visuals also easy to watch as there isn’t too much to grasp and that’s where the gap truly lies in as they could have prospectively extended the storyline through numerous approaches from dialogues in between to a steady guide to how KLY moved from rags to riches in the visuals. The music video consisted of a more fast paced story which led to more questions than answers towards the end. Aside of my critic side, they were good to watch and well shot which allowed for the song to easily settle with the visuals.
I personally rate them a solid 7.5 out of 10 as there were gaps in between that could have been fulfilled and well executed which could have elevated the impact towards the storyline at the end.
