One of Botswana’s greatest gems and blessings is singer-songwriter and entrepreneur, Mpho Sebina as she blessed our ears and eyes with a stellar live performance in December on the “Smoke Break Live Sessions” by Bullsheep Creative Studios in collaboration with Jagermeister. In the live performance, you get to experience what we would call a ‘silent session’ experience which Jagermeister has been pushing for the past year where attendees put on headsets to enjoy the performance and music.
This approach enhanced how we experience the live session as you begin to feel present in the moment through the live band and Mpho’s soothing and tranquillising voice. Mpho first opens her performance with an easing intro as she sets the mood and tone through her message. She then transcends to opening her set with “No Evil” where her harmonious and melodious vocals touch the heart and the soul as the message dwells deep with every note. Mpho then elevates the energy in the room with a performance of “Rainbow Dream” leaving the mind in a more mellow state.
Just as the mind dwells into the mellow state, she then takes you back into time with a cover of Ice Prince’s 2011 hit single “Oleku” from his award winning debut album, “Everybody Loves Ice Prince” with a tot of well layered harmonies. Mpho then dedicates an unreleased single titled “Fire/Inferno” to all the ladies of the world which embraces every lady’s value and uniqueness that they bring to this world. She then closes off her set with her heartfelt single “Dikeledi” which is a remedy to the tough times in life and a reminder that there is beauty and light on the other side of it all.
This was a live performance to remember as Mpho graced our hearts and ears with unforgettable moments through harmony, peace and love. With that being said, I am truly excited to see and hear what she may have to offer for the masses this year. Wishing her a blessed year filled with opportunities and love.
