R&B singer and songwriter, Zimkitha has finally reached the moment that many waited for as she releases her double-disc debut album titled “The Black Enigma”. This journey was well guided in over the past few months with the release of “Baby Vuka” and “Coffee In The Morning” which have since become favourites for many of RnB lovers across the country.
“The Black Enigma” album is inspired by a time after the Covid-19 pandemic as Zimkitha for the longest of time urged to finish the album. Like many of us, she mourned the many losses of friends and family during the pandemic: It was not business as usual.
This inspired her to reflect and retrace her steps as a musician while in pursuit of her purpose. Zimkitha’s extensive vocal prowess and harmonious range take the listener on a nostalgic road trip of soul searching and a glimpse of the past.
Each track on the album serves as a layer of skin peeling off from her past eloping over to her present and bright future allowing the full body of work to inspire the next individual to truly chase after their dreams even after the challenges, it is all possible. This sometimes means embracing what makes you different, embracing your acquired mind, vibe and life and the things that make you an ENIGMA.
The album features the likes of Ayanda Jiya, Wordz, Wakithi, D.O.X.RSA, Thami Lami and many more, while unearthing numerous amazing producers such as K.Fresh, Hāzy, Purple Keyz, Ulumusic, G Sta, Phoenix Flamee and F&B Rhythms. This sonically allowed Zimkitha to fully and genuinely immerse herself in the feeling of each R&B/ Afro soul/boom bap inspired production.
