For the love of Hip-Hop, VenusRaps is back with her latest single “Heart” which is a heartfelt letter to the game. I first heard the single exclusively on a SoundCloud private link from Venus as she was reaching out for my input. And oh man, did I not blow up her phone with the intent to express how mind blown I was as I couldn’t believe it that there was rappers in our age that could tap into their hearts whilst still resonating with current events. “Heart” gave me a nostalgic feeling which I got when I first heard Kendrick Lamar‘s infamous mixtape “Section.80“. This project drove a lot if Hip-Hop heads crazy as Kendrick painted an image that many individuals from across the world could relate to as that was the life we all led to a certain degree.

Anyways, I digress, “Heart” is a journey into the world of VenusRaps as she has been actively creating music for over a decade and within this journey she has been put through a lot by those she entrusted in the game to assist her with her growth. In this particular track she expresses the daily struggles of female artists across the world in which they have to fight for respect and support from their peers in the industry. She though goes back to Hip-Hop as it saved her from her reality and she is now ready to save Hip-Hop locally as many are quick to praise ‘culture vultures’ and people that poise a particular image without the actual talent. And sad reality is that Hip-Hop is not the same anymore and we need people that will serve as activists across the music industry through the actual art.

“Heart” is honestly a single and a cry for unity within the Hip-Hop space as many have scattered around in small groups with close to zero support for artists from outside of those groups. You will enjoy this single as it will not only ignite your viewpoint to the Hip-Hop sound but also take you back to the simpler times when music had a meaning behind it. I am very proud of VenusRaps as I have received the liberty to experience her road to this release and I am excited to hear what else is still to come. Wishing you all the amazing things in the world towards your career and life.

I love what I do on a daily basis as I get to help out fellow African creatives spread out their work to the world. I am a diverse individual as I do not limit myself to one group or type of content. I am always open to receiving new work from other individuals as that is my way of maintaining the culture in quality form.
