The new-age era in rap is in full effect with the steady rise of talented individuals such as “The Qwellers“, “Tony Dayimane” and “Usimamane” as they continue to infiltrate the system with a unique cadence and style. Usimamane to be specific as he blew the internet away with his hit single “Cheque” accompanied with steady visuals on YouTube which has since rose to trend on number 10 for music. It isn’t easy grabbing an audience’s attention especially on the independent scale when you are still trying to build your community of dedicated fans but the fellow rapper was able to break out that stigma and create his own lane.
I first heard of the song on Friday when it dropped as I was up early and working on certain releases including Zimkitha & Tasha HendrixX‘s “Complicated” as well as checking out what new music has dropped and there it was “Cheque” by Usimamane. What allowed me to connect with the song was the subtle intro where you see his lady sing along his name before the beat drops and he steps into his rap zone with a simple yet catchy flow. The lyrics is what painted a vivid picture as to the type of direction the fellow artist is going towards if he remains consistent. Usimamane’s ability to express to dreams and aspirations was a seller as he stuck to his Zulu roots whilst infusing it with the modern trap lingo which he was able to tap into the life he truly wants and is working for each and everyday.
Usimamane is a must add to your radar and playlists for the year as we continue to experience his journey through his craft.
