Ah, the vibrant pulse of the ’90s! The thrilling energy that filled our streets alongside the sounds that owned the airways. It’s time to ignite our spirits once more as we eagerly anticipate Oskido’s upcoming lifestyle festival, BIG DAY OUT. Just last month, the legendary DJ unveiled this exciting endeavor, and now he’s confirmed the first phase of an electrifying lineup that’s sure to take us on a nostalgic journey through the heart of our musical heritage.
BIG DAY OUT isn’t just a festival; it’s a heartfelt celebration of three decades of South Africa’s rich music scene, a time when kwaito ruled the airwaves and laid the groundwork for the dance music explosion that followed. We’ll relive the golden era of kwaito as iconic artists grace the stage, reminding us of the joy, struggle, and vibrant culture that music has always inspired in our lives.
Phase one of the lineup is already bursting with the presence of kwaito royalty: Zola, Mdu, Trompies, Boomshaka, Professor, and Thebe. These legends shaped our youth and continue to inspire new generations with their unforgettable music.
But wait that’s not all! We’re also welcoming the pioneers of South African dance music to the stage – our kings of the decks! Expect to get down to the sounds of Christos, Ganyani, Vinny Da Vinci, Greg Maloka and Glen Lewis, along with the superstar DJ Zinhle. Together, they’ll take us back to where it all began, a time that still resonates deeply within the South African audience.
And this by the way is only the phase one lineup announcement. In the weeks to come, we’ll unveil even more performers who will join this stellar lineup. BIG DAY OUT attendees can look forward to an exhilarating blend of timeless classics and fresh hits, reflecting the dynamic evolution of SA sound.
Oskido’s inaugural BIG DAY OUT promises not just an unforgettable experience, but a vibrant homage to our rich musical heritage. We’ll celebrate with the very best of South African cuisine, creating an exhilarating festival atmosphere that honors our past while looking forward to the future.
