Hailing from the small town of Vanderbijlpark is Mo Artwell with his first Hip Hop offering of the year, a single titled “Same Song”, featuring Hopemasta. It’s been a while since Mo Artwell has released a body of work, his last one being a mixtape titled “Mo Artwell & Friends – 5pc At 11:08”. “Same Song” is a teaser to his upcoming mixtape titled “The Nobody Who Saved Everybody”, produced by himself, Hopemasta and Hype 1108. Mo Artwell’s work is coined by his introspection while still having a melodic delivery. It is no surprise that the artist comes in with a head-bopper. Both Mo Artwell and Hopemasta effortlessly show their unapologetic pride in their craft. The single has also recently been paired with visuals that serve as a perfect reintroduction to Mo Artwell’s work.

When I first heard the song I was immediately drawn to its soulful feel and relaxed cadence. It is easy to appreciate his confidence and playful wordplay. “Same Song” is a single that boasts an air of unshakable self-assurance shared between Mo Artwell and Hopemasta who deliver their lines with great chemistry. The single stands as a statement of artistic identity with its cool lyrical swagger. From this first offering alone, I am eager to hear what Mo Artwell and his co-producers have in store for us this year.
