International platform ‘From The Block’ has made its way to South Africa as they feature a variety of artists from our shores such as 25K, LucasRaps, Blxckie and Nasty C. The platform has given performances from the likes of Bobby Shmurda, Chris Brown, MaryJane, Lola Brooke and much more.
The performance that took off the internet is the Lola Brooke performance for ‘Don’t Play With It‘ as she bagged a hit that went on to trending for many months of which granted her opportunities to appear on a variety of platforms such as Hot 97, On The Radar Radio and much more to an extent she was invited on tour by Future and Meek Mill.
The platform has created many opportunities for many artists across the globe as they offer them exposure to a global fanbase and they are currently expanding into the African market. Through that they have managed to feature our top favourites in the country as they represent the South African Hip-Hop music scene with their stellar performance.
They recently featured Nasty C on the platform as he performed his latest single titled ‘Blackout’ and that very much caught most of my attention as they shot it out in a natural facility. Nasty C has been growing throughout the course of his career as he featured on a variety of international platforms and with this current feature it just takes his brand value straight to the top.
Blxckie:The award winning artist has been out and about with his career as he continues to make hits on top of hits. This follows his recent feature on AKA’s last album ‘Mass Country’ as he gave us unforgettable hooks. He now returns with a ‘From The Block’ performance as he performs ‘Papa’ from his recent single pack titled ‘Papa Fetti’. The performance was shot in Braamfontein close to the prestigious ‘Playground’ facilities.
LucasRaps is well known for his catchy freestyles and he now gifts us a never heard before single through his performance for ‘From The Block’. The song is titled ‘uMuthi’. We definitely need this one to drop asap as its not only the vibe hook but as well as his sick flow and rhyme scheme in each line. The performance was shot in the heart of Braamfontein in front of the ‘WATER BODEGA’ store.
25K:
25K represents his hometown Pheli in his performance for ‘From My Block’ as he performs ‘Phelibasas’ at one of the corner shops in his neighbourhood. Maglera makes cameo in this performance as they all vibe to the performance. As 25K continues to grow his brand, we hope that this year is the year he taps into his global market.
Each performance stands out in its own way as each artist represent South Africa in the best way they know how whether it be through the vernacular lines or simply their storytelling in their art. We really love what From The Block is doing for artists across the globe and really look forward to seeing who else they bring onto the platform this year.
Do look out for more African performances in the next coming weeks from the platform. Check out who will be featured next via the teaser below.
