AKA’s album ‘Mass Country’, was certified platinum in June 2023. The album exceeded 35 404 units which is equivalent to 40 972 588 streams in South Africa alone. On a global platform, Mass Country has received over 76 064 931 million streams, four months after release. These include audio streams, video streams and downloads. Radio airplay has seen more than 9 000 spins on the four official singles coming off the album with over 897.29m impressions.
It is with utmost pride that Sony Music Entertainment Africa awards a platinum plaque to the Forbes family and Vth season for the exceptional work and the streams that the album has received. To date, the 13-track album has seen massive success due to the support of the Megacy, digital partners and radio stations across the globe.
Following the success of the album, The Supa Mega has received a posthumous nomination in the Best Southern African Artist of the Year category at the 16th edition of The Headies Awards. He will also be honoured with the AFRIMMA in Dallas, Texas.

The singles on the project were individually awarded with gold and platinum plaques which include Dangerous’ featuring Nadia Nakai and Blxckie, ‘Mbuzi (Freestyle)’ featuring Thato Saul and ‘Prada’ featuring Khuli Chana have all been certified Gold, while ‘Company’ featuring Nigerian record producer KDDO has hit certified Platinum. ‘Lemons (Lemonade)’ which features Nasty C has been certified 4x Platinum since its release in September of 2022. Sponono featuring Sjava joined the success of the singles hitting gold two weeks after the awards were handed over.
Mass country as a full project remains testament to the South African music pioneer’s talent and impact on the music industry, and on the hearts of his fans and the industry at large. This honour speaks volumes.
