Africa House brought its global event series to Johannesburg with an intimate surprise “Off the Record” session at Artistry, setting the stage for a new wave of cultural connection and collaboration. The evening was anchored by Grammy Award-winning artist Wyclef Jean alongside Kujenga, who set the tone for an unforgettable night of music and storytelling. Guests were treated to impromptu performances from some of South Africa’s brightest rising stars, including Nanette, Langa Mavuso, Lia Butler, Xowie, Phila Dlozi, Biko’s Manna, and Stacy.
“This night was the greatest! I am blessed beyond measure to witness this level of pure talent. This feels like the night I officially pass the torch to a new generation of artists,” said Wyclef Jean.
The Johannesburg session forms part of a series of Africa House activations that will take place across the globe, all designed to spotlight and celebrate the richness of African creativity while fostering meaningful connections across the diaspora.
“This is a full circle moment for me. I began my music career working with The Fugees, so to now welcome Wyclef at Africa House in Johannesburg feels both deeply personal and culturally relevant. It’s a reminder of the power of music to connect journeys across time and place,” comments Yvette Davis Gayle, Co-Founder and COO Africa Creative Holdings.
Adding to the night’s atmosphere, Johnnie Walker partnered as the official liquor sponsor, elevating the experience for the select audience of creatives, industry leaders, and tastemakers in attendance.
With its unique blend of established icons and emerging voices, Africa House continues to champion a vision of cultural unity, where Africa and its diaspora remain at the heart of global conversations in music, art, and innovation.
