Jay Jody Details His Life Journey In His Latest Release ‘Revenge Is Sweet’

Jay Jody is back with his first body of work for the year titled, ‘Revenge Is Sweet’. The 6 track EP only features three amazing beings from the likes of AV on ‘Star Signs’ to Loatinover Pounds on ‘Loot Love’ and A-Reece on ‘Free’.

Each track details Jay Jody’s progression in life from all the times where he felt as if nothing much was happening for him to all that he has been praying for finally coming to light.

‘What’s the West That Could Happen‘ serves as a diary note as he reminisces on his journey in life whilst he was still in the West from when he started out as a dancer to him quitting dancing to establish a more solid job at a restaurant as money was a scarce resource and he needed to take care of the family. Even through that he continued to write raps on the sides until he got the opportunity to be in studio and showcase his ability to rap. This was when we saw the birth of ‘B3nchmarq’. He then grew a passion to create beats on the low and gathered all the needed resources from fellow group member and business partner, TkayStaxxx to start off his passion.

‘Revenge‘ further touches on why he went into the rap scene as he raps on the importance of family and self belief as there wasn’t many people that believed in him when he told them that he would someday be an icon in the rap game. He never let their disbelief get to him as he prioritised his family including his kids  as he does all of this for them.

‘Loot Love‘ touches on the importance of prayer and unity as it is easy for people to lose themselves but if you understand why you stand for all the things you stand for and never let anyone take you away from your top priority then you will be good. Before everything else do not forget to structure your money properly to ensure that your family is sustained even in tough times. He is joined in by Soshanguve’s rapper that’s on the rise, Loatinover Pounds who goes all out with his verse.

‘Stone Cold‘ expands on the unity topic as he raps about being wary of who is around you as it is those people around you that can either influence you negatively or positively unless you know your story. Jay Jody raps on understanding that every step matters in your journey and at times it won’t make sense but you have to remain positive. He further expands on the importance of loyalty and never losing your morals or ways all because of people having something negative to say about your craft as those words don’t really define you.

‘Star Signs‘ is a song that speaks on the power of manifestation and understanding that you will attract what you think of. The bigger question is ‘Can you handle it all?’. It is an amazing single lead by AV as the main vocalist with the hook. She definitely brought a more mellow twist into the song and gave it a bit of depth through her vocal play.

‘Free‘ is a song that speaks on how challenging life can be at times but for as long as you fight through them with prayer and structure, it will all be good. It also touches on the importance of letting go of things of the past including all the mistakes that our parents made that affected us in a manner where it could all go south or north depending on the route you take but life needs you to be constantly awake to fully be aligned with your purpose so freedom is really a thing we can fully create for ourselves mentally and emotionally.

The EP is a must listen to as you will be left motivated to constantly do better by the day and remaining good to yourself as at times we can be a bit harsh on ourselves especially when it comes to our dreams. It was worth the embarkment as one fully got to learn a bit more about Jay Jody than one anticipated.
