Producers J-6ix and Yolophonik Join Forces With Tyson Sybateli and Solo Sae on New Single “Woah”.

Creating a better music industry requires teamwork, reliable partnerships, and collaboration. In addition, we need an entire army of artists to work together to build a pleasant environment for their art in the next few decades. This means that creatives must embrace the benefits of collaborating together, and these artists show us how.

Long-time collaborators and producers J-6ix and Yolophonik band together on a new single called “Woah.” The track features stand-out rappers Tyson Sybateli and Solo Sae, who include their unconventional styles with poise. Mixed by engineer Feziekk, the beat is bouncy and narcotic, bringing the month of love to an upbeat closure.

“Woah” is available now on all streaming platforms.

The track is a hip-hop and trap fusion fueled by electrifying rhymes and a groovy hook. It is the first official collaboration by the producer duo and the first-ever collaboration from all four artists. Known for their work on superstar Blxckie’s album 4LUV, J-6ix and Yolophonik fused their individual strengths impressively, producing a polished top-drawer track.

“The collaboration has been a long time coming. Tyson Sybateli and I have been fans of each other’s music for a while now, and us finally collaborating is a full-circle moment. This link up was truly organic and is definitely the first of many,” J-6ix said about unifying the different aspects of the track. Similarly, admiration goes a long way in collaborations. It creates a positive environment for creativity to blossom. “Collaboration has always been a beautiful thing to me. It’s always great working with artists that you respect and admire”, Yolophonik said about including Solo Sae and Tyson Sybateli on the track.

    Tyson Sybateli

Four-time South African Hip-Hop Award nominee Tyson Sybateli is a collaborator extraordinaire. Moreover, he shares his quick-wit and rhymes with emerging artists across the industry. Since the release of his critically-acclaimed album Home, he has featured on singles with Joda Kgosi and Mashbeatz. Two-time South African Hip-Hop Award-winner Thato Saul, Halo Yagami and Teerage also worked with him on Mashbeatz’ album too. Tyson’s fierce confidence and melodic rap style makes him a remarkable hip-hop act. He is the perfect ingredient to add to create a smash hit.

“This release, being the first of many with J-6ix, I wanted to enter an element that’s not my usual go-to sonically and tempo-wise. Flows I rarely get to use are on full display. Its more playful and inviting than my own takes and refreshing for me”, Tyson said about his fresh approach towards this project.

In the same way that the world’s best rappers started off as talented features, Tyson gets a step closer to greatness the more he shares his gift.

“Woah” balances the authenticity of these artists positively, allowing them to interpret the beat how they see fit. The strength of this collaboration is in each individual artist’s input. It is a major accomplishment when creatives with diverse forms of expression come together successfully. It sets the tone for the future of the music business, boosts its potential to grow, and inspires others to learn from each other. The only competition to be in is with their past selves, because it is the best way to create the purest music.

“The making of the record was quite literally a walk in the park. I heard the beat from J-6ix and immediately got the idea of how I want to put everything together. This [is] one of the many records I enjoyed recording”, Solo Sae said about working with J-6ix. Solo Sae is embracing his collaborative spirit this year after pouring himself into his exclusive releases for a portion of his career. His work ethic is commendable, and is evidently the cornerstone of his contribution on this track.

Furthermore, these artists show us that surrounding yourself with people you appreciate is a recipe for peak creativity. Instead of chasing individuality, you should also nuture a collaborative community. Besides gaining a creative community that will help you reach your dreams, you also learn a lesson about trust. Tracks like ‘Woah’ are what we get when artists trust each other; of course, it is wonderful to witness.

Listen to ‘Woah’. Out now on all streaming platforms.

I am a black girl who loves good music. The commercial and underground South African music scene is buzzing, and I would love my corner of the internet to highlight that buzz.
