VenusRaps gradually made her return on the 14th of April with her debut EP ‘Superstar’. The EP explores a variety of sounds within the South African culture such as the globally renowned sound, Kwaito which has birthed many legendary hits from the likes of Trompies, TkZee, Mandoza, Zola 7 and Brown Dash just to name a few.
The EP is a 4 track project which will not only allow you to embark on a personal journey with VenusRaps as she sings and raps on her daily experiences which sees appearances from the likes of Buzzi Lee, AirDee, Phonikz, Mata and Hazy. Each and every individual contributed played their role on the project as you are taken to the township through the mellow and yet hard selected beats.
I personally enjoyed the project with my top favourite being ‘Dese’ and ‘Personal Space’. It is a well coordinated project and is definitely worth the listen from start to finish with no skips as you learn more about who VenusRaps is and where she comes from. The project definitely has a memory element to it depending on the times you were born in and the type of music you grew up listening to but many can resonate with. You are definitely up for a journey so go ahead and give the project a listen.
