What was once South Africa’s anthem for lovers has become a complete classic as the duo, Venom x Shishiliza celebrate yet another accolade as ‘Sondela’ has officially reached Multi-Platinum status surpassing over 7 Million streams. The single saw the duo showcase what is known as the ‘hybrid’ sound which is an infusion of multiple genres within the African continent. The song features Yumbs, Raspy, Blxckie, Tshego and the late, Riky Rick.
This was followed by their debut album ‘Love Is Pain‘ which was an exploration of the various sounds from Amapiano to RnB to Hip-Hop. This saw them collaborate with a lot of uprising acts alongside established acts such as S.O.N; Reed; Nvcho; Blxckie; DBN Gogo; Raspy and many more. The project has since amplified the experience of the ‘hybrid’ sound as they continue to map it out further into the world. They dedicated the project to the Riky Rick as he encouraged them to be the best and to continue putting on up and coming acts as well as South Africa on the map.
Congratulations to Venom and Shishiliza on this major achievement as well as the team and featured acts as not many records in South Africa make it to a ‘Multi-Platinum’ status so clearly they are doing something right with the ‘hybrid’ sound and we cannot wait till we get an extensive listen to what they have been working on and how they have managed to enhance the sound since their album release for ‘Love is Pain‘.
