It has been over two years since the release of Tyson Sybateli‘s “HOME” project which led to his industry recognition as he moved from being an upcoming artist to an uprising act that many looked up to. Over the years, “HOME” shaped the Tyson Sybateli brand into becoming a household brand as he gradually worked hard into further growing his brand from his unique roll-out structures to defining a solid brand identity for himself from visuals to art works to the actual music. Since the rise of the multi-talented artist, he has been able to work with a variety of artists from the likes of ‘Yolophonik‘, ‘Joda Kgosi‘, ‘ZRi‘, ‘The Big Hash‘ and many more.
The release opened up many opportunities as his music reached all the right ears allowing him to collaborate with various brands such as Puma for their ‘RS-X 3D‘ campaign as well as ‘STAY LOW’ for his ‘No Paperwork‘ freestyle. Tyson has since achieved numerous things from performing for the very first time in Cape Town at ‘Rocking The Daisies‘ to launching a collaborative mixtape between himself and ‘The Sobering Podcast’ squad titled “Present“. The mixtape performed quite well across digital platforms with the support of Sony Music Entertainment for his 1 year license agreement. Under this agreement, Tyson was able to release visuals for “It Worked” which guided many fans towards the collaborative project. Through this release, he gained playlist covers for ‘Mzansi Raps‘ on Spotify as well as ‘Afro Hip-Hop‘ on Audiomack which further grew his brand as well as attaining a ground-breaking, 1 million streams on Spotify.
‘Bra Nyoga’ now returns as a fully independent artist with his first release of the year titled “Strike A Pose” which is a dedication to “HOME”‘s 2nd Anniversary since its initial release. In the single Tyson reflects on the days of when he was a cashier whilst working hard on creating the music which led to the birth of “HOME”. This is referenced in the opening of the single where Tyson states, “‘Member when I was a cashier for cash year, Now I never have a bad year”. He further reminisces on life’s recent changes from the biggest loss for Hip-Hop to him representing the culture and standing firm to who he is alongside his roots being from ‘Umlazi’ in KZN.
The fellow rapper has had to succumb to a lot to further understand the game and where he stands in his current life from the greed of the supposed ‘support system’ or rather ‘community’ to simply people using him for his recognition in the music space. Tyson further pays home to the late legends ‘AKA’ and ‘Riky Rick’ as well as his favourite rapper ’50 Cent’. “Strike A Pose” is an easy listen single as Tyson lays over his strong in message verses over a mellow classic Hip-Hop instrumental. He compliments the pace of the beat with quite captivating backing vocals that guide the catchy hook which reads “Lights, Fame, Camera, Action…”. The single is a must add to your library as it will bring a sense of life and light especially if you are a Hip-Hop head.
“Strike A Pose” consists of a light mood making it a great track to start your day with. I am truly excited to hear what else Tyson Sybateli has in the vault as his name continues to grow towards greater heights. As we await for the official merchandise celebrating the 2nd Anniversary to “Home” at the end of this month, let us indulge in the artistry that ‘Bra Nyoga’ has divinely served for us.
