Sirvik Returns From Hiatus With Adventurous New Single ‘Vibes”.

As the world drowns and revives itself from chaos, it can seem like there is no time to relax. Time is wasted worrying instead of partying, which runs out the clock on the non-refundable times of your youth. Consequently, calm and peace become more of an ultimate goal, which Sirvik addresses in his new single from his upcoming EP, ‘Me Alone’.

Nigerian-South African collaboration continues to take the world by storm, and fast-rising singer/songwriter Sirvik is joining the movement. Victor Akpevwhe Ohwo, popularly known as Sirvik, kicks his year off with Afro-pop single ‘Vibes’. Produced by South African producer HERSH, ‘Vibes’ is a fun, breezy Summer track about chasing peace in the middle of chaos. “Everyone at some point in their lives faces relationship struggles and problems and sometimes it can get toxic,” he said about the song’s inspiration. “With ‘Vibes’, I just wanted to share a true story from a close friend and it somehow made me realize things in my life too.”

    Sirvik

Sirvik returns after a short hiatus with plans to release the highly-anticipated EP ‘Me Alone’ in May. “I just want to share with the audience good music. This year I’m back, and I’m preparing for my EP,” he said about his 2023 prospects. The steady growth of the African music scene is the momentum he will use to dominate the global stage with his talent. His catchy choruses give him commercial leverage, adding fuel to his buzz.

Sirvik released a 6-track EP in 2021 through his record label Domin Records. The project bounces between Afro-pop and Afrobeats and also includes popular hooks and melodies familiar to an African audience. Moreover, he cites Burna Boy and Wizkid as inspirations, hoping to represent the growing African sound on a global level. Afro-pop is filled with nostalgia that listeners can depend on. However, Sirvik’s honour of that nostalgic sound is what’s most exciting about his return.

The new single pivots from the smooth Afrobeat-inspired sound he is known for. It is an adventurous, courageous display of his artistic range. Additionally, ‘Vibes’ is a follow-up to his popular 2022 single ‘Notice Me‘, fusing elements of popular African music genres to create an upbeat, lighthearted track.

Finally, Sirvik addresses a toxic relationship matter between lovers in ‘Vibes’. He also reiterates his intention to remain calm and collected. Besides, looking forward to a better future is better than clinging to an unchangeable past. ‘Vibes’ is immediately upbeat and optimistic and then points you toward brighter horizons.

Listen to the catchy, melodic energy of Sirvik’s new single ‘Vibe‘. Available now on all streaming platforms.

I am a black girl who loves good music. The commercial and underground South African music scene is buzzing, and I would love my corner of the internet to highlight that buzz.
