The Coolest Kid In Africa has further opened up his creative portfolio and creative talents as he joins the voice cast of an emerging Disney+, animation series titled ‘Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire’. Nasty C shared his excitement in an earlier Instagram post about in taking on this project. He shared how he resonates with many of the struggles that his character has and commented on how he was elated to take on the character when his team first presented it to him. While this makes a great starting point for anybody that is tasked with representing a character, it also brings up the expectations of what we may hope to see in the animation.
African storytelling has such a primal influence and place in African lives. This is felt more especially as Africans have lost many of their stories and consequently, their history. The project is a ten part anthology which features stories from different parts of the continent, signifying a universal shift in terms of African collaboration, with directors from: Zimbabwe, Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Egypt. The themes of Africanism noted by the various settings of the series serves in uplifting the experience of the stories told, even more so as authentic voices lead them.
The Disney series features a few other locals such as Candice Modise, Gigi Lemayne, Pearl Thusi and Tumi Morake. The series has shown promise of local and African influence and representation, clearly marking it as an exciting item to put on your watch list for the 5th of July 2023.
