Rocking the Daisies, South Africa’s biggest music festival – as voted by the nation, has announced Kamo Mphela as the first of a handful of local artists set to perform at its upcoming #JWxRTD 2023 festival with many more exciting announcements to be made over the next couple of months. The announcement was made last night at the exclusive Month of Maybelline birthday soirée, hosted at the LevelThree Rooftop venue in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Attendees of the event were treated to an exclusive live performance by global Maybelline brand ambassador Ayra Starr, in her first ever live performance in South Africa. The twenty year old singer-songwriter, who was born in Benin and grew up in Nigeria, is set to perform at this year’s Rocking the Daisies festival alongside UK Grime and Hip-Hop artist Stormzy and British pop band, The Vamps and many more.

The event also provided a glimpse of what’s to come in October 2023 at the #JWxRTD Maybelline Station with a dazzling exhibition by musical mavens DBN Gogo, DJ Doowap, Kamo Mphela and Mamthug. The spectacle was punctuated by authentic South African choreography from the Bontle Modiselle Dance Studio, a joint venture between Steyn Entertainment and performance powerhouse Bontle Modiselle.

“We are thrilled to announce Kamo Mphela as the first of our leading local headliners at the Maybelline Station experience at Rocking the Daisies this year,” said festival director, Shannon Valstar. “Kamo brings a unique South African flavour to the line-up and we can’t wait for our fans to experience her energetic and exciting multi-dimensional live performance at our festival.”

This year’s edition of Rocking The Daisies will be hosted from 6-8 October 2023 at Cloof Wine Estate, Darling and 8 October 2023 at Supersport Park, Johannesburg, and is brought to you by Steyn Entertainment and official title sponsor Johnnie Walker.

I love what I do on a daily basis as I get to help out fellow African creatives spread out their work to the world. I am a diverse individual as I do not limit myself to one group or type of content. I am always open to receiving new work from other individuals as that is my way of maintaining the culture in quality form.
