South Africans love to dance, sing and feel. Therefore, these elements make us compatible with the dance/electronic rhythms of award-winning French multi-instrumentalist, French Kiwi Juice. FKJ stopped by the Mother City and the City of Gold, delivering a performance that left the audience breathless.
In the City, a boutique music and lifestyle event series by Steyn Entertainment introduced FKJ to the electrifying Johannesburg audience on June 25. “Get that saxophone out, baby. Let’s get into it” and “We love you, FKJ ” were a few remarks heard during his mind-blowing set. Between his extraordinary remix of Erykah Badu’s Bag Lady and the surprise appearance from (((o))), it’s clear that FKJ has an incredibly engaged fan base around the world.
The event lacked nothing as it gelled well with the word spontaneous. It was an experience and a half as you had to be there to understand the impact. The show was opened up by spectacular acts such as DJ D’Phault, Lordkez and Marcus Harvey. Lordkez and Marcus Harvey definitely gave the show the soulful kick it needed as many were deep in their feelings. As you tilted your head you could spot cute couples as well as friends building strong bonds over soulistic music. The supporting live band and backing vocalists for each supporting act brought more life to the stage as they prepped us for a jaw dropping performance from FKJ himself. They set the tone and vibe which a sunset experience needed. FKJ then took over the stage and gave a stand ovation performance which left many fans screaming for more.
You simply had to be there to understand. We cannot wait for the next one and many others in the future. Do check out our recap video below to experience what we experienced at this amazing show.
