Daliwonga has been hard at work this year as he gradually led us to his 3rd Studio album, “Dali Dali” through various collaborations with Ftears & Shaun Musiq, Raspy as well as Mas Musiq and many more. I first heard the album at the listening session this past Wednesday brought to you by Ciroc. The experience was quite intimate as Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena led the show with her hype energy and mind bending questions per side of the album. Daliwonga then gave us an experience of a lifetime in which he performed the songs on the project per side with a guitarist, pianist and DJ for the backing track.
This experience gave us an earful to grasp as Daliwonga experimented with the sounds on the project from a soulful tone in Side A to a more groovy tone in Side B in which fans can expect performances to those particular singles. It is a journey and a half as Daliwonga breaks down his life into to two especially with the persona of his twin brother, which quite explained the title of the project. When listening to it, you can gravitate to the source of inspiration which is fashion and the modern street-lingo in which he and his team spend time studying on TikTok. Tracks like “Relokeleng”; “Mnike”; “Vur Vai” and “Bana Ba” are a perfect representation to their study of trends.
This is one of those projects that will not only grow on many but is a must listen to as it details so much about Daliwonga’s character and personal relationship dynamics that have contributed to his level of growth. You will enjoy this album from start to finish.
