DJ Menace has been active in the industry in over two decades with his first gig being a choreographer for the legendary Brenda Fassie. He has since utilised that knowledge and experience to further his presence in the music space through creating his own music within the House space. After a long break from music with his last release being “Mo Money Mo Problems“, he now returns with a dance infused project titled “Back To The Mainstream”. The project showcases a flavourful list of 7 tracks with “Coffee” being the bonus single for his fans to indulge in.
“Back to Mainstream” allows DJ Menace to express himself and his state of mind through selective vocal collaborations to further expand his story and his vision in music. The music scene has evolved since his last release so this pressed him to take his valuable time to adopt the new sounds into his project to further resonate with the new-age house market. Having have listened to the project, I personally rate it a 5/10 solely because the sound was a bit dated but most importantly I feel that they could have included some new-age producers to achieve the aimed sound as certain elements were missing. Aside of that, I could understand the direction and what DJ Menace was trying to do sonically.
