It was only on the 1st of April when I found out about the forthcoming release of Bugzito’s debut album ‘Dilo Thlakana’ which was set to drop on the 28th of April. Time then passed by which lead to the release of visuals for the lead single ‘Kao Chaela‘ featuring Chad Da Don and Lolli Native. The song boldly set the tone to what you could expect to hear from the project from a storytelling element and sound element.
I only got the opportunity to listen to the project fully a couple of days back as I wanted to understand what the message behind the 17 track album was and I personally feel like each song has its own background and backing story as you embark on a never ending township story. The project takes you to where Bugzito is from which he embraces very much through the lyricism and lingo used in each song. It is a culture rich album as you learn about Bugzito and the things he has had to see from his expression in love for his dear partner to his love for the streets.
My top favourite song from the album has to be is ‘Thlakana’ as it is an ode to all people hustling that it will all get better and it speaks to me personally as days differ sometimes we have great days and sometimes we have days where we feel demotivated and it is on such days where we need songs like these to help with getting our hopes up so that we can persevere. I love the project as a whole as it is a journey between you and the music depending on how you receive the message from his art.
You will definitely love every moment of the album from the outstanding production to the continuous storytelling. It is a must listen as you will learn valuable lessons about life from the direction of relationships to love as a whole, you also get to learn ‘Tsotsitaal’ which is a mixture of SeTswana and a bit of Afrikaans to form a rough way of communication in a very smooth and sweet manner depending on the tone.
