For decades upon decades sneakers and streetwear have evolved the fashion scenery through extreme and unpredictable collaborations which have since pushed many elegant luxury brands to also create what we call ‘Fast Fashion’ similar to fast food except that it is quite accessible in different approaches. Since the push, many brands have come to light to best pioneer the fashion space through high-quality garments and uniquely placed collaborations with one of them being the US brand, “Unheardof“. The brand was founded by Phil Lipchultz in 2008 and was inspired by Pop Art, Skateboarding, and History, making them more than a lifestyle boutique store as they created their own graphics and graffiti art which embodied the history of Phil’s hometown ‘Cincinnati’.
The brand has since become a global household name through its unique pieces and extensive range of one-of-one sneakers from various brands such as Adidas, New Balance, Asics, Nike, and many more. Our very own Kim Jayde took it upon herself and her team to travel down to the USA for a two-part interview with the legendary Phil Lipschultz as he celebrated his family history through a stellar collaboration with footwear and apparel brand ‘Adidas‘ for unique footwear which was dedicated to his late sister and family history. In the first part of this interview, we get to explore and learn who Phil is as he breaks down the journey and birthing of ‘Unheardof’ as well as ‘Erika’s Poem‘ where culture and art meet in the form of fashion and footwear.
Phil also speaks on a very precious moment that he got to share with his grandmother where she got to wear the shoe and participate in the content shoe as well as attend the shoe range launch party at the age of 100. Part 1 is very informative as one gets to learn a lot mainly in Phil’s world on what it takes to build a solid brand that speaks a universal language that many can resonate with. You will enjoy this mouthful interview from the conversation to the product breakdown, we definitely cannot wait to get our eyes on part 2.
