Neo-soul artist Namakau Star teams up with rising Amapiano prodigy Mbuso de Mbazo for a new project called “Rewind Boarding School Piano Edition.” The release celebrates a decade of Amapiano, showcasing the genre’s evolution and impact on the global music scene. Furthermore, the original track, cherished by neo-soul enthusiasts for its warm melodies, reimagines the distinctive soundscapes of Amapiano. Consequently, the collaboration promises to infuse the Amapiano genre with an energetic, soulful, and invigorating experience for music lovers.

Excitement about the release is admirable, with over 2,000 Shazams from a teaser soundbite on TikTok. Fans have expressed their enthusiasm and enjoyment of the full track. Namakau Star, a Basadi in Music Award nominee, shines in the South African music industry with her innovative approach and dynamic performances. Additionally, her dedication and ability to seamlessly blend different musical styles earn her a loyal following and critical acclaim. “Rewind Boarding School Piano Edition” testifies to the power of collaboration and the ingenuity of the country’s musical landscape. Surprisingly, Namakau’s unique vocal prowess paired with Mbuso de Mbazo’s expertise, highlights the diversity and creativity defining South African music.

“I am thrilled to work with Mbuso de Mbazo on this project,” said Namakau Star. “Our goal was to celebrate the essence of Amapiano while bringing something new and exciting to the table. I believe we’ve created something truly special that resonates with fans across different genres.” Moreover, as Co-Owner and Creative Lead of ARMC, it reinforces the importance placed on diversity. The Africa Rising Music Conference is a premier annual event that unites music industry professionals from across Africa and beyond. Importantly, the conference encourages creativity, networking, and professional development, contributing to the advancement of the African music industry. Rewind Boarding School Piano Edition feels like the blending of house music’s best elements: a catchy beat and a smooth voice. It is not difficult to imagine it in a playlist or in a popular mix.

Mbuso (Mbuso de Mbazo) Tenjekwayo is an emerging talent in the Amapiano scene. He is known for the Boarding School Piano sub-genre mixes and their commitment to the genre’s growth. Besides his passion for creating music that resonates, Mbuzo de Mbazo wants to establish himself as an undeniable influence in South Africa’s vibrant music landscape. In addition, his inclusion onto Spotify’s most like Amapiano playlist is no small feat. Despite the genre’s raving popularity and success, Mbuzo manages to carve his own way.
