The state of Hip-Hop hasn’t been the same for quite sometime as the carriers of storytelling in South Africa have either went on a lengthy hiatus or left the game completely through various circumstances beyond their control at times. The game has since seen a rise of acts from across the world as many have scattered out into the world to chase their dreams and live throughout their passions in many ways possible whilst still representing South Africa. One of them happen to be multi-talented artist ‘Nyota Parker‘ who is also known for her affiliation with Converse through their ‘All Stars‘ campaign which embraces talent across the world through various activations in different territories.
She is well known for skating skills but also her ability to take over the stage through her rapping and singing skills. Nyota Parker has been active in the game for quite sometime as it is through her gift that she has been able to get herself collaborations with some notable names such as Thato Saul, Uno July, Zmny, Jazzgroupiez and Saul Madiope just to name a few. She now returns with her 3rd single release of the year titled ‘Alright’ which is all about persevering even in the times of darkness. This of course follows her two single releases, ‘Yours‘ and ‘Safe Space feat. Uno July’ which are both singles that address chasing your dreams and taking care of your mental health as life will be full of hurdles, the end result is all dependent on your reaction and way forward of coping.
I am honestly excited for ‘Alright‘ as it touches on various factors of life and allows one to expand their viewpoint on life.
