It was just 3 years ago when I had just discovered one of Thato Jessica all thanks to The W Music Group as they pitched her for ‘Friday Night Live’ sessions which I used to personally host on Instagram through 30 minutes Live interviews unless the proposed guest was the only guest for the night. Any less, I went on to listening to her music a week before the interview which was the 19th of June to be specific and I simply fell in love with her voice and storytelling abilities. The song ‘Masa‘ with Mpho Sebina sold it all as I watched the full music video for the song and just couldn’t hold back my emotions as that is how touched I was.
The 26th of June then came closer and I couldn’t be more excited to have a conversation with my newly found favourite vocalist as she came into the live with excitement and insightful information about her journey. Her story taught me so much about what it takes to build your dreams from scratch as it is not child’s play and she is the perfect representation of that as she has walked a very challenging path that many would deem as motivational. This of course follows her career in architect and having to dabble between entertainment and corporate was pretty much one thing that brought her this far as she loves what she does and was pretty much able to find the perfect career path to fund her musical endeavours.

Time then passed after our lengthy conversation and she went over to hosting her very own show in Botswana as well as recording new music namely, ‘Title‘, ‘New Chapter‘ and ‘All for you‘ which was a cover to Janet Jackson’s hit single which lead to her joining the Open Mic Production family. This has been a great move for Thato Jessica as she gradually made her return with her single ‘Count On Me’. The Amapiano single sees her take a different approach to her sound as she makes a devotion to her loved ones that they can count on her even in the toughest times and this further takes a different approach as it could also be a self devotion that even in your most humbling times you can count on yourself to pull through.
‘Count On Me’ is a must listen as it gives us a glimpse into Thato’s world and understanding to what true happiness really is. You will not be left singing along to the hook but as well as dancing to the log drum beat and I mean what is a party in one’s head without a bit of good music.
To Thato: “Considering the motions of life you have had to experience, it is really an amazing thing to see how you have managed to step out of those moments a stronger woman and even happier as only time can truly heal as well as our alignment with highest one. It is really a beautiful experience to see you express yourself in your music further but also living your dreaming. I am wishing you all the best in life as you deserve the best things in life and cannot wait to see what else you have to share with the rest of the world in the coming months. Stay shining and blessed sis.” – Me
