Born in 1998 in Zimbabwe is Cape Town based artist, Ozxy Said It as he starts off his musical year on a highly great note with his latest release titled ‘Bust It’. Ozxy first made his debut to the music scene in 2019 with his first song titled ‘Faces‘. The alternative/rap song showcased his ability to create a unique flow with highly catchy lyrics. His sound has since become experimental as he went on to releasing his debut EP in 2020 titled ‘Experimento‘. The EP allowed Ozxy to express his love for various sounds as each song was infused with either a touch of Jazz or RnB and Soul as well as Alternative.
He now returns from a 3 year hiatus from the music scene with a song titled ‘Bust it’ featuring D.O.XRSA. The song caught our attention as it is a play of classical rap music with the boom bap beat and mixture of soothing vocals that guide the hook. You are bound for a journey that will take you down memory lane as the song mainly showcases Ozxy’s love for various genres in the music space as this is heard in the instrumentals and flows he used in the song.
He has since received a co-sign from global company ‘Genius’ for his latest release.

Below is an interview we did with him earlier this week through Instagram as we sent him questions about his latest release ‘Buss it’ as well as a guide to get to know him a bit better.
Who is Oxzy Said It?
“OZXY_SAID_IT is a rapper, actor, activist, poet, designer and artist.”
What inspired the name?
“What inspired the name is the fact that I keep speaking things to existence and they happen and the Ozxy comes from my middle name Ozbert.”
What was the creation process for your 2020 Debut EP titled, ‘Experimento’?
“The inspiration behind ‘EXPERIMENTO’ was the highlights of the past year and my transition to trap from boombap and showcasing my skill.”
What lead to the 3 year hiatus?
“The hiatus happened because I was in a very tough stage in my life from going through, dropping out of school to my dad going to jail, as well as having to lookout for my brother since we had moved to a not so safe location.”
What were you able to learn within the 3 year break from music?
“I was able to learn that life is only worth the people you love and care about and that life is very short and any moment anyone could be taken away from you.”
How has the break influenced your current sound or ear to music?
“The break made me realise that as much as I can make music that people like and vibe to they also need to feel and relate to it and the key is just to do it from the heart and it will all come easier from the mix to the final product.”
When did you work on ‘Buss It’?
“‘BUST IT’ is a song i made with HHP’s producer through the introduction from my uncle, Ayanda who was my then lowkey manager. He pushed me to create a song with meaning and longevity.”
What was going through your mind when you wrote and recorded ‘Buss It’?
“When I wrote and recorded ‘BUST IT’, I was missing my family because that time I was in Job’urg by my Uncle and I had not seen them in a while, so it was just an ode to my family.”
How did you and D.O.XRSA meet and get to work together?
“I met DOX.RSA when I was in Jo’burg. He had just finished performing at ‘BACK 2 THE CITY’ and I approached him for a conversation as I liked his vocals and he really respected my freestyling abilities and just like that we instantly vibe. We both have a strong amount of respect for each other so it made it easier to work together.”
What’s the vision for 2023?
“The vision for 2023 is to build traction around my name through the work as well as a solid relationship with my fans and potential fans. I also plan to consistently drop good music that can be played by both the youth and the elderly without it feeling too old or too new but just bridging the gap between.”
Can we expect visuals for ‘BUST IT’?
“The visuals for ‘BUST IT’ are on YouTube. I dropped the visualiser video last month and I am really pushing to get numbers on it. Then I can drop the official music video.”
Lastly, what words of wisdom would you like to share with fellow artists in Cape Town?
“Words of wisdom would be to ‘Find your pack’, the people who you work with can determine whether you fail or succeed and I plan on taking over the game. It’s just a matter of time.”
